Dental membership plan vs dental insurance
A dental membership plan provides discounts on dental care received at a specific dental office. For a monthly fee, this dental savings plan provides you with instant access to a certain number of dental cleanings and exams a year. You’ll also receive discounts on preventive, emergency, and cosmetic services. These discounts won’t completely cover the cost of any procedure, but you can still expect significant savings! Plus, unlike insurance, you can enjoy:
- No waiting periods
- No annual maximums
- No pre-existing condition exclusions
- No claims, denials, or downgraded treatments
With dental insurance, the insurance company covers a percentage of the cost of a procedure. The services they cover (and by how much) will vary from plan to plan. You’ll pay a premium for the plan and additionally be responsible for a copay. Many dental insurance plans also have an annual maximum that the insurer will contribute to your care each policy year.
If you don’t receive dental insurance through your employer, an in-house membership plan is an excellent investment that can save you money!
