When Is A Tooth Extraction Necessary?

A tooth extraction is never our first choice.
Incredible restorative options exist that can allow you to keep your natural tooth for as long as possible. However, an extraction may be recommended if your tooth is:
- Severely decayed/infected
- Cracked or damaged
- Causing intense pain
- Crowding other teeth
We use high-tech digital imaging technology to get a clear look at the structure of your tooth. This will help us make an informed decision about whether or not tooth removal is the right choice for you.
Questions About Tooth Extractions
How long does it take to recover after a dental extraction?
Your extraction can often be completed in under 30 minutes, providing immediate relief from a bad toothache or other issues stemming from your damaged tooth. However, some recovery time will be needed. Expect to take it easy for 48-72 hours.
Can I eat and drink immediately following an extraction?
After your tooth is removed, we’ll ask you to stick to soft foods and liquids for about a day. Avoid chewy, crunchy, sharp, and sticky foods until you’re fully healed.
Do you remove wisdom teeth?
Yes! We work with patients of all ages who need their wisdom teeth extracted. Learn more
Do you offer emergency visits?
If a problematic tooth is causing you pain, contact us right away. We do offer emergency care, including same-day extractions.
Hear from our patients
I recently had two teeth extracted and two fillings done in the same visit. Dr. Clint worked quickly and made sure I was pain free the entire time. He even gave me a courtesy call later on just to check and make sure I was feeling OK. I highly recommend Dr. Clint to anybody that experiences fear about going to the dentist.
